Introduction

I just heard that 81% of our great country's citizens feel we, as a nation, are headed in the wrong direction. How could we have allowed things to get as bad as they apparently have?

Every one of us needs to accept some responsibility for the state of affairs we now find ourselves in. That responsibility may come in the form of having voted for the wrong person in 2000 or 2004 (especially 2004; y'all should have known by then...); perhaps our priorities need to be reevaluated, less spending, more saving, less technology, more porch-sitting, or walking in the woods, or along the ocean. Less thinking, more being. That sort of thing.

Whatever we can do, we should do. Hopefully, later this year, we will vote into office of the presidency a person who will help correct our current direction, and head us back in the right direction, forward into a productive and peaceful future. I hope everyone who reads this blog will agree with me that there is only one person, among the candidates from which we will choose, who can do that: Barack Obama.

I've been listening to Eckhart Tolle for the last nine months. I discovered him last summer, during a time of need. It's amazing but true: when the student is ready... I'd heard of him for quite a while, knew he'd written a book entitled The Power of Now, but just had never read him before. Then I got an audio book of his and have been 'practicing' him ever since.
So it was a delight and a surprise when Oprah decided to use his latest book, A New Earth, as her next book club selection, and then, to host him for a ten-week webcast to discuss that book.

The title of my blog here is a combination of saying that I often use, to which I added the word, "aware" which was inspired by Eckhart. I usually sign off with "be well", in posts, in emails, etc. It's a nice ending, I think... something that, if you do that, be well, then you've got everything, even if your home is in foreclosure.

Be well aware, everyone...
